Christian Stoner Freed

As a Boy and as a Man

This rare penny postcard shows two views of Christian Stoner Freed, as a boy circa 1863 (during the Civil War) and as a middle-aged man circa 1909. He and his wife, Esther (Barnhouse) Freed, resided near Vanderbilt, Fayette County, PA, and she was treasurer of the first Minerd Reunion in 1913. This card was found in the collection of the grandson of Esther's first cousin, Lawson Minerd.
