2000

The 71st annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on Saturday, July 15, 2000 at the Wharton Township Park, Farmington, PA. After lunch, the meeting was called to order by President Judy Varndell. Minutes from last year’s reunion was read by Betty Lou Tressler. Old business: really none – we will keep this date for the reunion until this pavilion becomes available for the 4th Sunday in July – so it will stay the 3rd Saturday in July. By headcount 48 people were present. Officers for 2000 are:

  • President – Judy Varndell

  • Vice President – Teresa Johnson

  • Sec-Tre. – Betty Lou Tressler

Games will be handled by April Masciarelli & Katie Bogus. Bingo will be handled by Vicki Adams. New business: none. Awards for 2000 go as follow:

  • Oldest woman – 88 years – Alverta Ream [seen at right with daughter Joan]

  • Oldest man – 74 years – Bill Harbaugh

  • Married longest – 55 years – Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Harbaugh

  • Married shortest – 4 yrs., 8 months – Mr. & Mrs. Richard Harbaugh Jr.

  • Youngest child – 14 months – Kristin Henry & Jessica Henry

  • Largest family – Mrs. Pauline Harbaugh

  • Traveled the farthest – 115 miles – Valerie Parson – West Virginia

Money collected in donations $112.00. White elephant sale $65.50. M&M games guess $4.00.

2001

The 72nd annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at the Wharton Township Park, Farmington, Pa. After lunch the meeting was called to order by the president, Judy Varndell. Minutes from last year were read by Betty Lou Tressler. Betty Lou Tressler decided since there was a good amount of money in the reunion fund that she would order chicken, rolls & butter out of reunion money. Everyone agreed to make it a part of the yearly deal.

Old business: Keep the reunion here until the 4th Sunday opens for this pavilion. Reunion will be the 3rd Saturday in July for next year. By head count 52 people were present. New business: officers will stay the same, basically because no one wants to take the job. 2002-2003 officers – 2 year term: 

  • President – Judy Varndell

  • Vice President – Teresa Johnson

  • Sec-Tre – Betty Lou Tressler

Games will be done by Thelma Harbaugh. Bingo will be done by Paula Varndell. This also will be a two-year term. Awards for 2001 as follow:

  • Oldest Woman – 79 yrs. – Betty Lafferty

  • Oldest Man – 78 yrs. – Bob Lafferty

  • Married Longest – 46 yrs. – Mr. & Mrs. Bill Harbaugh

  • Married Shortest – 5 yrs, 8 months – Mr. & Mrs. Richard Harbaugh Jr.

  • Youngest Child – 9 months – Charles Varndell (Pauline Harbaugh’s great grandson). 

  • Youngest Child – 6 months – Breanna Gardner (Bill & Joy Harbaugh’s great granddaughter, left early because of accident)

  • Largest family present – Mrs. Pauline Harbaugh

  • Traveled the Farthest – 130 miles – Jean Stull

2007

The 78th annual Harbaugh Reunion to be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 12:30 p.m. at the Wharton Township Park. All paper products to be provided. Each family member should bring a meat dish plus either a side dish or dessert to share. Bring a family member who has been absent for some time. Bring genealogical material, family photos, old stories and other family mementos. Bring items for the white elephant fund raiser. We need someone to handle children's games, paper products and invitational mailings plus new officers for the years 2008-2010. Please bring a self-addressed, stamped envelope to receive your 2008 invitation. Contact Theresa Johnson for more information.

2008

The 79th annual Harbaugh Reunion to be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 12:30 p.m. at the Wharton Township Park. Organizers are asking each family to bring a covered dish and a dessert, and also a gift for the white elephant sale. The softball field at the park is available, so bring your gloves and bats and try to bring back the old Harbaugh tradition of a fun softball game for all age groups. There also are horseshoe pits, so bring your "shoes." If you need directions, contact Jeff Harbaugh at 724-455-6136.
