Laughery Reunion - 2001

The 37th Reunion of the Family of
David Leander Laughery and Martha Jane Harbaugh

August 18, 2001

The 2001 reunion group at the home of Buck and Nancy Thompson

The 37th Laughery reunion of the family of David Leander Laughery and Martha Jane Harbaugh was held Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001 at the home of Buck and Nancy Thompson in Felton, De. Thirty eight members were in attendance.

The weather was nice. Sunny and 80 degrees. Pres. Jerry Thompson welcomed everyone and a moment of silence was held in memory of our deceased members. Most recent being Irene L. Vincent on June 19, 2001, and on Aug. 10, 2001 Lois L. Winand lost her 5 year battle to cancer.

The buffet table in Nancy’s dining room was full of good food. Jerry Thompson game the blessing and everyone enjoyed.

A meeting was called to order. The 2000 minutes were read by Ron Case. A letter was received from Christa Johnson (daughter of Wilma and Eugene Ream (cousin to Art Laughery) at 396 Deibler Rd. Pa Furnace, PA-16865) stating that Wilma was in one nursing home and Eugene was in another. Dues were discussed and it was decided with $73 on hand it wouldn’t be necessary to collect dues for 2001.

Keith and Mary Ann Winand had twin boys, Alex and Samuel, in March 2001. Keith is the son of Harry and Lois L. Winand. New members in attendance were 6 mo. old Nicholas son of Jerry and Marie Thompson, and Shannon Aileen Laughery 9 mo. old daughter of Don and Mary Laughery of Harrisburg, Pa. Also in attendance were 16 mo old twins, Jarred and Kyle Ward, great grandsons of Jeannette Laughery Passwaters. Nancy had a "Family Tree Photo Quilt" in the making on display, and was still collecting information and photos.

Clayton and Loretta offered to host the 2002 reunion at their new location in Sandy Brae, Lewes, De. It was decided to continue having the reunion on the 3rd weekend in Aug. and to let the host decide Saturday or Sunday. The time capsule will have to be exhumed and moved from the Milton property. Games and entertainment were provided by Julie Yakimowicz.

  • V. Pres. – Marie Thompson
  • Sec./Treas. – Ronald and Peggy Case
  • Entertainment – Julie Yakimowicz
