Dear Sister and all

I will try too answer your most wellcome letter that we got so long ago. I am ashamed of my self for not writing sooner. Was going too Write last sunday but did not get at it. and then I thought I would wait untill after the picnic and that was yesterday. We had a real good time. Thare was four schools thare and thay all sung too pices apice. I wish you could have been thare too hav helped to eat the good grub. Jenny, Nona & myself war up to Cuningham to Camp Meeting too Weeks ago tooday staid all night with Websters. had A real good time. Well hellen we did not go eny place on the fourth. less was cutting wheat and I had to help him. We cut and stacked 10 acker of Wheat that day. Wheat is going from 10 too 19 bu per acker. oats are not going very much per acker but are a good quality.

Wheat, said to have been old when the pharaohs ruled in Egypt but perfected in the fertile lands of Kansas

Well hellen I am sory too hear of your having such a drouth up thare but I guess we are all in the same boat. it is all over as far as I know. The Eastern & Northern states are the same. We have not had Eny rain too doe eny good for about six weeks. We had a little shower last night just Enough to lay the dust. thare is not going too be much corn here I guess. I will have A third of a crop but thare are lots of others that wont have eny corn at all. some of the Corn north of here is all driede up. We are the best off in this neibhorhood of eny place that I know of . but we have had all the green corn we could use and all the potatoes we wanted since thay were big enough too use and beans till you could not rest. but our tomatoes have done the trip. We have got potatoes from the size of your thumb too the size of your fist. and I think that does pretty well for a drouthy season. Well, I just tell you it has been so dry here that we haft too soak our hogs over night too get them too hold slop the next day. it gets just as hot here as it does thare but thare is alwais A breeze going so it dont seem so hot. Well my paper is full pa is sitting out of dores in the shade. he says he would like too see all of you he dont haft to draw water by hand now. his pump works nice and easy.
