Return to Index

My dear little Ross

I must write some to you & tell you about how granpas oxes getting there Eli.. Well they are all right. old Boo & Bill comes up to the well every night & drinks together. Old Bill is red like short horns & Bob is red & white spoted & you could ride him if you was here.. like you do old Peg.. You must be good to the bird for poor old Granma often talks about sweet little Ross & Blanche & says much much she would love to see you & hear you talk to your Ma. You must eat lots of big apples & drink cider for me for we dont get any here & I do want some so bad. I am sorry you did not get your cap.. there was a little boy rode up to our well in a buggy to get a drink one morning with his Ma & Uncle and he had a Cleveland Cap on .. little Glen Sherwood was here today & I give him a long stick for a horse & he went out & Loped around the house & then he come in & wanted a basket. & I give him one & he come in after [illegible] with it full of nice chips for me. You said how is our little dog. Well now our little dog has got to be a big one but he is full of play. him & Shockey has big times. he come up the other day with an old bone in his mouth & laid it in my lap & looked at me & winked like he said. hold that. & then went to knawing it. & when the men takes the cattle off he runs & plays with the picket pins & when Late goes off in the wagon he climbs up through the sheel & in the wagon & up on the seat with Late & the wind flaping his big brouwn ears.. And one of our little pigs whiped Shockey the other day.. he thought had no right near him. he pitched at it but the pig pesseled him out till he run. but hated to. & looked like he hated it when I laughted at him. Granma cant bare to see him hurt .. the scar is over his eye where the old muskrat bit him & he is old & poor & lots of times falls back off the chair when he goes to jump up.. Well you must be good & kiss Blanches broad face for me & she must kiss you. write some more next time.
