Isabel, Kan
Feb 22, 1890

Dear Ross and blanche

I will try and answer your kind and welcome letter which I received some time ago. Blanche it is too bad about Mabel (we made a mistake). your doll having the grippe. I am chewing gun. I went to Sunday School today. my baby has had the grippe. Come down and see me and we will kill some jack rabbits. I had the earache after I got home. it hurt me awful bad. we have written enough for this time for we will make you tired reading this write soon. Mabel

[Enclosed with the letter was a pink gum wrapper -- "Florentine pineapple chewing gum" with "this is the kind of gum I chew Mabel" written in pencil on the back.]
