Horace Greeley Miner
(1872-1949)

 

Horace Greeley Miner was born in 1872 in or near Southington, Trumbull County, OH, the son of John and Elizabeth Miner

He apparently was named for the famed American newspaper editor and publisher Horace Greeley who was well known for creating the slogan "Go West, young man, and grow up with the country."

Our Horace made his home with his married sister Lucinda Hurd in Auburn Township, Geauga County, OH in 1910, when he was age 35 and unmarried.

Horace was a longtime laborer for the New York Central Railroad in Dorset, and retired from this work. 

He lived in Dorset, Ashtabula County, OH in 1942. 

At the age of 76, Horace died of a coronary embolism on March 27, 1949. He was buried at Dorset Cemetery.
