Kathryn (Minerd) 
Schewaski Hughey

(1900-1958)

Kathryn (Minerd) Schewaski Hughey was born on Nov. 27, 1900 in or near Pittsburg, Crawford County, KS, of unknown parents.  She was adopted by two elderly aunts, Emma (Minerd) Treseder and Margaret "Hester" (Minerd) Jackson.

Kathryn resided as an adult in Joplin, Jasper County, MO, and married ( ? ) Schewaski ( ? - ? ). 

After her first husband's death, Kathryn wed Dwain W. Hughey (1900-1957), also of unknown parentage.  Dwain worked as a refrigerator service manager with Empire Dist. Electric Company in Oswego, KS.

Kathryn had no children to either marriage.

In the late summer of 1957, Dwain was stricken by an acute coronary occlusion, and with complications caused by diabetes, he died, at the age of 57, on Aug. 8, 1957.

Kathryn outlived Dwain by a year and three days, making her home at 3015 Wall Street in Joplin. 

She passed away at the age of 57, of pneumonia and anemia, on Aug. 11, 1958. She was laid to rest beside her second husband in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO.
