SIXTH AND LAST OF A SERIES - Culminating a series of "Photo of the Month" images this year about the First Minerd-Miner Reunion held in Western Pennsylvania, on Aug. 21, 1913, this photo depicts some the actual group who attended that day. The site is Ferncliff Park at Ohiopyle, Fayette County, PA, directly below what was the newly completed abutment and bridge of the Western Maryland Railroad. (Today this is a rails to trails bridge for bicyclers and hikers.) We think the actual reunion was held at the nearby Ferncliff Hotel, either inside or on the grounds.

At our upcoming national reunion on July 12-13, 2003, we will celebrate the 90th anniversary of this landmark event, and honor the original five-member planning committee -- the father/son team of Isaac and Roy Minerd, secretary Esther (Barnhouse) Freed, vice president Martin Miner and historian Allen Edward Harbaugh.

Click here to see a super-enlarged view of this photo. An effort is underway to identify all the faces, but at present only some of them are known. We hope to have each face numbered on this for easy identification and listing.
