In about 1896, Civil War veteran Ephraim Minerd built a new home for his wife and growing family in Hexebarger, near Kingwood, Somerset County, PA. Shown here are Ephraim (with gun), wife Rosetta (Harbaugh) Minerd (seated) and children, from left to right: Harry David Miner, Minnie (Miner) Gary and John Andrew Miner. The ghost image behind Minnie is of either elder son Lincoln Miner or Grant Miner. The house still stands today. The Miners' grandchildren and great-grandchildren began holding a reunion in 1986 which has evolved into today's national Minerd-Miner-Minor Reunion.
