Nett-Helen Letters

Letter Fragment from Nett to Helen - January [Year Unknown]

Return to Index

While I am waiting for D. [Dick] to come to his dinner I will write a little more & tell you how mean Jims [Uncle James R. Brown's family] served us about thier party. they had the night of the 11th Franks birthday. the day you was writing it was a real cold cloudy day & looked like snow. Frank & Nell come up to Isabel to Clay Wallows but did not go by here but cut off on a by road east of the house & crossed the R.R. at the depot fearing they would see some of us. But D. & Late was at the Store when they got there. Nell went to Wallers house & Frank went in the store & handed his written invitations out to this one & that one that he wanted & sent to the rest. & Late & D. stood right there & he never mentioned Party to them. Tom Knight, the young man that went with Nell all summer clerks in the store & Nell come up to see him. they played out & Jims are dead to get him back again that she must go there to see him but he did not go to the house to see her. he fixed up & lit out over east to see his girl. & he did not go to the party. he told D. they could stick it in thier hind ends. When Jim & Lyd come from Reno Co they stoped there & got thier dinner. Aunt Lyd is just crazy for him to go with Nell again. They invited Robys. but went right by Late & Jess [Jen?]. I tell you it dont set well. it was just to get Tom Knight down there & he did not go & we heard they are going to have another. I reckon to try again to get him down. our house is a good halfway house but we are not quality like them.
