Mrs Hellen Clark

allow me the privilege of writing you a few lines although you are a stranger to me I feel as if I knew you almost as I have heard Bro Dix speak of you so often. I want to ask you if you have heard from Dix. he promised co write to us just as soon as he arrived home but we have not heard a word. we have written to him & have received no answer & we fear there is something wrong. what day did he start for Kan & did he take Mabel? I will close hoping to hear from you soon I remain

Very Respectfully yours

Maggie Cooley

P.S. if you ever come to Laclede be sure & come to see us. kiss Mabel for me if she is there.
