Newburg, West Virginia

Home of 19 Branches of our Extended Clan

These rare old postcard photograph images show Newburg, Preston County, WV, homeplace of several branches of our family in the mid-19th and early 20th century. The earliest ones included Hiram and Catherine (Miner) Hanshaw and some of their adult children, as well as Burkett Fawcett, who was killed in the Civil War.

Among the surnames of their children and grandchildren in more recent years were Brown, Frazier, Hanshaw, Huggins, Martin, Menefee, Miller/Danks, Purinton, Rankin/Loughry/Shay, Stafford, Stuck/Phillips, Turnley/Walls and Van Zandt.
