Harbaugh Reunions - 1990-1999

1990

The 61st Annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 22, 1990 at the Mt. Fellowship Center – 18 miles east of Uniontown, PA on Route 40. Before lunch Charles Harbaugh returned thanks. After lunch our meeting was called to order by Danny Harbaugh. A moment of silence. The secretary-treasurer’s report was read by Theresa Fisher. The minutes and treasurer’s report from the previous year were approved as read. Old Business: A vote was taken to hold the reunion in the building next year. Rent will be fifty dollars. New Business: We voted to continue with the white elephant sale on a volunteer basis with all moneys to go towards the reunion. A mailing list was placed for those wishing to be sent a reminder card for the next reunion. Awards are as follows:

  • Oldest Woman: Ollie Hall – 89 years
  • Oldest Man: Herb Ream
  • Longest Married: Herb & Florence Ream – 58 years
  • Shortest Married: Teresa & Cliff Wicks – 8 days – July 14, 1990
  • Youngest Child: Autumn Masciarelli – 10½ months
  • Traveled Farthest: Sara & Don Wayne Scott – 165 miles – Canton, OH
  • Largest Family: James Harbaugh – 4 children present

White elephant sale proceeds total $69.25. Offering $169.00. By head count 77 were in attendance.

1991

The 62nd Annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 28, 1991 at the Mt. Fellowship Center – 18 miles east of Uniontown, PA, Route 40. Before lunch Charles Harbaugh gave a word of thanks. After lunch, the meeting was called to order by Danny Harbaugh. During meeting a get-well card was past around for signatures to send this wish to Norman Ream. The Secretary-Treasurer report was reviewed and read aloud by Theresa Johnson. These minutes and treasurer’s report from the previous year were approved as read.

Old Business: Vote was taken to hold the reunion here next year in the building. Rent will be $60.00. Continued mailing list for reminder cards. New Business: Voted to continue with the white elephant sale, with all monies going towards reunion expenses. Election of officers for the next two years:

  • Vice President: James Harbaugh
  • Sec. Treas.: Oscar Harbaugh
  • Games for Kids: April Mascrarel
  • Bingo: Sandy Harbaugh

  • Traveled the Farthest: Jack & Elaine Wilkerson – Greenwood, Delaware – 260 miles

Meeting came to a close after a moment of silence was given. White elephant sale & games for the kids plus bingo followed meeting. Head count was 65 present. White elephant sale receipts $95.25. Offering $109.00.

1992

The 63rd Annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 26, 1992 at the Mt. Fellowship Center 18 miles east of Uniontown, Pa. – Route 40. Before lunch Charles Harbaugh gave a word of thanks. After lunch the meeting was called to order by Ted Harbaugh. During meeting a get well card was signed for Ollie Hall

The 64th Annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 25th, 1993 at the Mountain Fellowship Center, 18 miles east of Uniontown, Pa., on Route 40. Before lunch, April Masciarelli gave thanks. After lunch, meeting was called to order by Ted Harbaugh. The Sect. Tres. Report was read aloud by Oscar Harbaugh Harbaugh. Reading of the minutes was approved as read by Jim Ream, 2nd by Dannie Harbaugh. Old Business: Vote was taken that we hold our reunion here next year. Rent will be $___. Continued mailing list for reminder cards. Voted to have our white elephant sale next year with all money going toward our reunion expenses. Officers:

1994

The 65th Annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 24, 1994 at the Mountain Fellowship Center, 18 miles east of Uniontown, Pa., on Route 40. Before lunch, Cliff Harbaugh gave thanks. After lunch, meeting was called to order by April Masciarelli. The minutes of the last reunion and financial report were read aloud by Dave Parsons. The minutes stood approved as read. Nominations were made for moving the reunion to the nearby pavilion or to Farmington Recreation Center. A discussion was held then vote taken. 

A vote to have the reunion here in the bldg. – 14. A vote to have the reunion in the pavilion – 9. A motion to move to Farmington Center was made by Joyce Harbaugh, seconded by Betty Harbaugh. Vote was taken. Farmington Ctr. Was approved by a 20 – 9 count. A vote was taken to have the white elephant sale in 1995. Officers:

 

  • President Richard Harbaugh resigned his position as President.
  • Vice President April Masciarelli became President.
  • Tedford Harbaugh was nominated alone for Vice President by Katy Bogus and 2nd by Valerie Parsons.

Awards:

 

  • Oldest Lady: Ollie Hall – 93 years old
  • Oldest Man: Eugene Ream – 74 years old
  • Longest Married: Mr. & Mrs. Richard Conn – 51 years married
  • Shortest Married: Mr. & Mrs. Ron Johnson – 4 years
  • Youngest Child: Alisha Morgan – 2 months
  • Traveled Farthest: Roy & Verna Burton – 159 miles
  • Largest Family – 4-way tie – Tedford Harbaugh (3), Larry & Iva Barkley (3), Allen & Bev Morgan (3), Pauline Harbaugh (3). The awards were donated [back into the reunion fund].
  • Larry Barkley was elected to get pop, plates, napkins, forks for 1995.

By head count there were 60 in attendance. Oscar Harbaugh brought up that Emerald Cemetery is not being taken care of. A donation was taken for repairs and for workers to install repairs. Mrs. Younkin donated the fence. Oscar will give a report on this at the next reunion. Motion to close mtg. by Tedford Harbaugh. Second by Ron Johnson. White elephant sale $53.00. Offering $89.00.

1995

 

Wharton Township Park

The 66th Annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 22, 1995 at Wharton Township Park, Farmington, Pa. Before lunch, April Masciarelli gave thanks. After lunch, meeting was called to order by April Masciarelli. Minutes of last meeting and reunion were read by Dave Parsons. The minutes were approved as read. Officers were nominated as follows: 

 

  • President: Betty Lou Tressler and Jim Fisher. Betty Lou received 20 votes and was installed as president. Jim Fisher was installed as vice president. 
  • Nominations for Secretary-Treasurer were Katy Bogus and Iva Barkley. A vote was taken with Iva Barkley named Sec. Treas. 
  • Games for next year (1996) will be handled by April Masciarelli and Katy Bogus. 
  • Bingo will be handled by Vicki Adams.

Awards were distributed to:

 

  • Oldest Lady in Attendance: Florence Ream – 77 years old
  • Oldest Man: Eugene Ream – 75 years old
  • Longest Married: 46 years – Eugene and Wilma Ream
  • Shortest Married: Ron & Theresa Johnson – 5 years
  • Youngest Child: Elissabeth Nae Parsons – 9 months
  • Traveled Furthest: Eugene & Wilma Ream – 160 miles
  • Largest Family in Attendance: 3-way tie – Tedford Harbaugh (3), Larry & Iva Barkley (3), Charles Harbaugh (3). The money was donated back to the reunion.

Each $5.00 award was donated back to reunion. Larry Barkley will bring pop, napkins, plates, etc. for 1996. By head count there were 33 people in attendance. Old Business: Oscar Harbaugh gave a report on Emerald Cemetery. Money donated at 1994 reunion was given to cemetery and was used for improvements. New Business: Tedford Harbaugh made motion to keep reunion here next year. Valerie Parsons seconded motion. Vote was taken and was unanimously approved. Tedford Harbaugh made motion to close mtg. Ron Johnson seconded and meeting was closed. Offering $62.00. White elephant: $23.00.

1996

The 67th Annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 20, 1996 at Wharton Township Park, Farmington, Pa. After lunch, meeting was called to order by Betty Tressler. Minutes of last meeting was read by Betty Tressler. A word of prayer was said for the ones that passed on. New Business: Betty Tressler will buy paper things and pop for the reunion next year. It was voted that the reunion will be here again next year. By head count there was 34 people here. Awards:

 

  • Oldest Woman –  Alverta Ream – 84 years old
  • Oldest Man – Eugene Ream – 76 years old
  • Married Longest – Oscar & Opal Harbaugh – 51 years
  • Married Shortest – Richard & Thelma Harbaugh (8 months, 2 days)
  • Youngest Child – Rebecca Harbaugh – 7 months (Elliot Harbaugh’s child)
  • Traveled Farthest – Mr. & Mrs. Elliot Harbaugh (from Italy)
  • Largest Family – Ted Harbaugh (4 children)

Alverta, Oscar, Richard and Ted’s children donated back the money to the reunion. Lewis Adams made motion to close the meeting. Pauline Harbaugh seconded it. Meeting was closed. White elephant sale, games & bingo follow the meeting. White elephant sale $47.55. Offering: $81.00.

1997

The 68th Annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 19, 1997 at Wharton Township Park, Farmington, Pa. After lunch, meeting was called to order by Theresa Johnson. Minutes of the last meeting was read by Iva Barkley. A moment of silence for the ones that passed on. New Business: The officers was nominated as follow:

 

  • Pres. – Theresa Johnson
  • Vice Pres. – Jim Fisher
  • Sec. & Tres. – Betty Lou Tressler
  • Bingo – Vicki Adams
  • Games – April Masciarelli & Kathy Bogus

Old Business: We will keep the same pavilion and the same Saturday until a Sunday opens up for this pavilion. By head count there was 36 people. Awards:

 

  • Oldest Woman – Alverta Ream – 85 yrs
  • Oldest Man – Louis Christiansen – 84 yrs.
  • Married Longest – Oscar & Opal Harbaugh – 52 yrs.
  • Married Shortest – Thelma & Richard Harbaugh – 1 yr, 8 mo.
  • Youngest Child – Zachary Harbaugh – 3 months
  • Traveled Farthest – Louis & Lucille Christiansen (Marionville, Mo.)
  • Largest Family – Richard & Joyce Harbaugh (3 children)

Judy Varndell made motion to close the meeting. White elephant sale, games & bingo follow the meeting. Offering $71.00. White elephant sale $26.75. Candy jar $7.00.

The 69th Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 18, 1998 – Saturday – at the Wharton Township Park, Farmington, Pa. After lunch, meeting was called to order by Ron Johnson – Teresa’s husband. Minutes from last year’s meeting by Betty Lou Tressler. Same officers as last year:

 

  • President – Theresa Johnson
  • Vice President – Jim Fisher
  • Sec/Tre. – Betty Lou Tressler

Old Business – Keep same day & same place & time for next year – until a Sunday opens up. New Business – none. Awards for 1998:

 

  • Oldest Woman – 74 yrs. – Mabel Ream
  • Oldest Man – 74 yrs. – Bob Lafferty
  • Married Longest – 36 yrs – Mr. & Mrs. Bob Lafferty
  • Married Shortest – 2 yrs, 8 months – Mr. & Mrs. Richard Harbaugh Jr.
  • Youngest Child – 8 yrs. – Autumn Masciarelli
  • Traveled Farthest – 65 miles – Ron Johnson
  • Largest Family – 3 – Danny Harbaugh

All awards but one was given back to reunion. Candy jar $4.50. White elephant $25.54. Offering $65.00. Motion to close meeting was given by Judy Varndell, seconded by everyone. Rent of park donated by Betty Lou Tressler.

1999

The 70th annual Harbaugh Reunion was held on July 17, 1999 at the Wharton Township Park, Farmington, Pa. After lunch, the meeting was called to order by President Teresa Johnson. Minutes from last year’s reunion was read by Betty Lou Tressler. Old Business – we voted to keep the same day – same place & same time for next year’s reunion – until a Sunday opens up for this pavilion. "Then it will return to the 4th Sunday in July just like previous years." By head count 45 people attended. Election of Officers for 2000-2001 (2-year term):

 

  • President – Judy Varndell
  • Vice President – Theresa Johnson
  • Sec-Tre. – Betty Lou Tressler

New Business – none. Games will be done by April Masciarelli & Katie Bogus. Bingo will be done by Vicki Adams. Awards for 1999:

 

  • Oldest Woman – 87 – Alverta Ream
  • Oldest Man – 80 – Eugene Ream
  • Married Longest – 54 yrs. – Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Harbaugh
  • Married Shortest – 3 yrs., 8 months – Mr. & Mrs. Richard Harbaugh Jr.
  • Youngest Child – 3 months, 3 weeks – Kristin Nicole Henry (her twin sister didn’t come with her)
  • Traveled the Farthest – 70 miles – Mr. & Mrs. Walter Adams – Washington, PA
  • Largest Family Present – 3 – Mrs. Pauline Harbaugh

5 awards were kept. 2 gave the money back to the reunion. White elephant sale $43.00. Candy guess game $11.00. Offering $87.00. Stamps & mailing the announcements and rent of the park was donated by Betty Lou Tressler.
